Are you interested in jazz singing but don’t know where to start? Do you have some experience singing jazz, but want to go "deeper" into the tradition?

Join jazz vocalist Gabrielle Stravelli and bassist Pat O'Leary for a workshop that will help you explore repertoire, develop your swing feel, get comfortable communicating with instrumentalists, learn how to approach scatting and above all, have fun!

Gabrielle Stravelli

Award-winning vocalist and songwriter Gabrielle Stravelli has garnered critical acclaim and a loyal following through her rich sound, original compositions and her unique take on material from the Great American Songbook as well as by contemporary artists as varied as Willie Nelson,  Joni Mitchell, Stevie Wonder and John Fogerty. A trained actor, Gabrielle has a soulful sensitivity for the story in the lyric and was called “a powerhouse of individual expression” by David Finkle of The Village Voice.
In April, Gabrielle will release her fourth album, “Pick Up My Pieces: Gabrielle Stravelli Sings Willie Nelson” a far reaching exploration of Nelson’s catalog, from his earliest works to his most recent creative efforts.

Pat O'Leary
Patrick O'Leary, bassist, studied piano and bass at Potsdam State University's Crane School of Music where he received his B.A. in music. Originally from Buffalo and now living in New York City, he has toured the U.S., Canada, Europe, South America, Australia, and Japan with the Lionel Hampton Orchestra, the Illinois Jacquet Orchestra, the Hal Garper Trio, and Teri Thornton. Also with Hampton, he recorded the Grammy-nominated Sentimental Journey (Atlantic). O'Leary has recorded with J.R. Monterose, Mundell Lowe, Mel Lewis, Bucky Pizz
