Some beach-goers consider Fort Lauderdale as the premier Florida coast as it's frequented by travelers and yet maintains grand neighborhoods for retirees and families.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the area has grown by more than 10% to over 180,000 residents in recent years. As you can imagine, the city has many neighborhoods, but, if you're a newbie, here are some of the most prominent Fort Laudedale neighborhoods.

If you really want to see what each neighborhood has to offer, find a top-selling realtor® through Effective Agents who can show you the these pretty places and all the perks that come with them first-hand.

Colee Hammock

Colee Hammock is among the oldest neighborhoods in Fort Lauderdale. It derives its name from the hammock marshes and waterways that are nearby.

While the neighborhood itself is not on the oceanfront, the majority of its perimeter is surrounded by water. And, if that isn’t enough, the ocean is a brief one-mile walk, run, or bike ride away.

Colee Hammock also boasts a rather famous park for everything from daily leisure activities to extravagant events such as weddings. The average price for a home is around $350,000, and it's a neighborhood for both families and affluence.

Victoria Park

Victoria Park is widely regarded as one of Fort Lauderdale's most precious neighborhoods as it's history spans a century. Victory Park is a destination spot for the surrounding community to dine and shop.

This neighborhood is considered a trendy community of modest size at 10,000 residents. Families are among its demographics, but it does have a strong commercial interest.

Las Olas Isles

Las Olas Isles is part of the Venice community and is considered distinct from the surrounding neighborhood in several ways. Water sports, especially boating, are a way of life here. As one might imagine, homes start around a million dollars.

Harbor Beach

Harbor Beach is another wealthy community with an average home price of about $500,000. It's a guarded community that seems to maintain an always-active beach. The neighborhood has a strong tourism economy and is also a seaman's paradise.

If you're looking for upscale living without the hefty price tag, let a best-selling real estate agent in Fort Lauderdale know what you're looking for and your budget, and they'll be sure to find you the home of your dreams.

Tarpon River

If you're looking for a place to raise a family, then Tarpon River might be your perfect neighborhood. Homes here average just over $300,000. Both public and private schools exist within the neighborhood borders.

Parks are widely available for kids, but don’t let the name and perfect family neighborhood fool you, Tarpon River is just a hop, skip, and jump away from the beach.
