About Plantation

Plantation in Broward County Florida was originally owed by the Everglades Plantation Company which gave way to its official motto ?The Grass is Greener?. Plantation Florida is over 22 square miles 20 miles north of Miami and 15 minutes from the Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport. With summer temperatures at 85 and winter at 65 Plantation has the ideal location and climate. From its child hood back in 1838, Plantation Florida was in the midst of a warzone between the original natives of the land, these wars lasting 7 years were known as the Seminole or Florida Wars. Despite the rocky start back in 1838 in 2008 Plantation was named one of the nations 100 Best communities for young people by America?s Promise Alliance. In 2005 the city was a site of tragedy as it was devastated by the affects of Hurricane Wilma. Plantation survived a rocky past filled with countless tragedy and emerged as a now thriving city ideal to live work or visit.

Today Plantation Florida is home of over 85,000 people. The city celebrates its rich history but does not forget the tragedies that have help to build that history. Plantation is a premier place to visit for a few days or a few months. The historical timeline of Plantation can be revisited through its many museums and libraries and city tours. Also home to over 42 parks including golf courses, biking and hiking trails, camps and outdoor leisure activities. A quality unique to Plantation is its hosting of annual events designed around the four seasons. This makes a visit extra special with this one of a kind celebration of the city which can be enjoyed by all ages.
