Mariachi bands. Shots of tequila. Ill-fitting sombreros. These are a few things that may spring to mind when you think of Cinco de Mayo. Similar to when St. Patrick's Day rolls around, Fort Lauderdale has little trouble getting into the spirit of the Mexican independence. Cinco de Mayo in Fort Lauderdale often takes on a festival feel with crowds of ill-fitting sombreros as far as the eye can see. Block parties are must-attend events, and tequila shots can't be turned down. What more could you ask for on Cinco de Mayo?
We had to kick this list off with one of Fort Lauderdale's best Mexican outposts. Rocco's Tacos earned its status as one of the best places to grab some tacos and good tequila- heck, it's in the name! But the exuberance is turned up a bit for Cinco de Mayo, so be prepared to have a good time for a long time.
Admittedly, you could visit America's Backyard on any major party holiday and have a good time, but fewer venues are better suited to celebrate holidays like Cinco de Mayo. Their decor and staff seamlessly slip between their usual funky styles to fit the event of the day. So, if you make your way over to one of Fort Lauderdale's best outdoor bars, be ready for a turn up fitting of the event and a few drink specials.

One of South Florida's premier all-encompassing entertainment centers had to throw one heck of a Cinco de Mayo party, and Gulfstream Park is doing just that with its annual Cinco de Mayo party at Cantina Laredo. The event begins promptly at 5 p.m. and will feature live mariachi performers, great drinks, delicious food, and more. Power 96 will also air live at Cantina Lardedo from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Fort Lauderdale's Himmarshee District is always a hot spot on weekends, particularly in the evening. But TacoCraft's annual block party is what attracts the crowd for an unforgettable Cinco de Mayo in Fort Lauderdale. The party kicks off at 5 p.m. and runs through the wee hours of the morning. There will be plenty of food, live performances, affordable drinks, and more.

Quvo Tacos is a bit removed from much of the activity taking place in Fort Lauderdale, but they make a darn good taco and serve some excellent beers. It's also one of the few locations pairing authentic Mexican with quality craft beers, and fewer things pair better with a good taco than a great beer.
The Riverside Hotel is one of Fort Lauderdale's posh locales. It's a place to lounge and a place to party, and, boy, do they know how to party! The Riverside Hotel occasionally sheds its high-class sensibilities and throws a party when the time is right, and Cinco de Mayo is one of the days when the time is right. Expect generous drink specials and an evening you won't forget.
There's always a party at Margaritaville, so, naturally, Cinco de Mayo would be no exception. As its name suggests, Margaritaville serves up some of the best margaritas you'll find in South Florida. So swing by on May 5 for $4 tacos and choice margaritas at their annual 5 o'clock Fiesta.
